A four-room boutique bed & breakfast in the heart of Cómpeta, Andalucía — a salt-water pool, a walled garden, and the Sierra de Almijara rising behind.
High in the white village of Cómpeta, where the mountains meet the Mediterranean and the seasons dictate life.
Casa Jardín is a four-room boutique bed & breakfast in Cómpeta, set inside a 1940 village house and reformed slowly and carefully. Anthony & Ian came to it after running a chambre d'hôte in southern France and, before that, a bar in Birmingham — the doors opened in June 2024 and the renovation was followed by Channel 4's A New Life in the Sun.
The mattresses are memory-foam. The coffee is good. Breakfast comes to a long terrace shaded and cool — fresh juice from the property's own orange and mandarin trees, warm croissants, and eggs cooked exactly how you like them.
Memory-foam beds, fine linens, silent ceiling fans, floor-to-ceiling windows with Juliet balconies, and rain showers in every room.
A bedroom and a separate sitting room with ensuite bathroom. The largest of the four.

A truly comfortable room on the first floor, with views to the garden, sea, and countryside.
View room
Set high in the house — morning light arrives early, afternoon shadow falls long. Garden, sea, and countryside views.
View room
Overlooking the pool, garden and countryside beyond. Accessible from the ground floor.
View roomThe pool sits in the walled garden, framed by trees and the countryside beyond, the Sierra de Almijara rising to the right.
A hidden oasis in the heart of town. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the salt water pool, relax on a lounger, fetch a drink from the bar. Reset and become familiar with the air, the sun and the pace of life in Cómpeta.
The garden is walled and quiet. Bougainvillea climbs one side, jasmine the other. Position your lounger to face the mountains in the morning and the sun in the afternoon.
The house & gardenFresh juice from the orange tree. Warm croissants from the village bakery. Eggs cooked any way you'd like them.
A long table under woven pendant lamps and a caned ceiling. Fresh juice from the orange tree in the garden (seasonal) — pressed that morning. Warm croissants from the village bakery. Eggs cooked any way you'd like them and a choice from the à la carte breakfast menu made to order.
Served between 09:00 and 10:30. We can lay it earlier if you have a bus to catch or a hike to conquer — just say the night before. Vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options are no trouble.
More about breakfast
Pour your own glass and watch the sun fall behind La Maroma. The terrace looks out towards the sea and the Andalucian countryside; the Sierra de Almijara rises dramatically to the right.
More about the rooftopThe hiking starts on the edge of town. The Saturday market fills the square with local produce, fruit, nuts, honey, wine and olive oil.
Everyone gets a warm welcome to Cómpeta. We have a wide range of restaurants — both in the town and nearby.
The village sits at 638 metres in the Sierra de Almijara, an hour from Málaga airport and forty minutes from the coast — close enough to swim in the sea, far enough to keep it special.
The villageLonger reads about the village, the renovation of the house and the festivals, activities and natural wonders that make Cómpeta so special.
A short walk to the next village, a longer climb to the top of the mountain, and an all-day walk into the national park.
Ian and Anthony's New Life in the Sun — a Birmingham bar, a chambre d'hôte in southern France, forty viewings, and a five-floor wreck on a hillside in Andalucía.
Games, funfairs, singing, dancing. If you want to see the whole town partying in the streets, this is the time to visit.
We keep four rooms. Most weekends in spring and autumn fill three months ahead — book direct for the best rates.
